Visigoth from Salt Lake City, Utah released an impressive mini lp in 2013 which was picked up by Sarlacc and the much respected Cruz De La Sur. This mini LP was filled with a traditional heavy metal attack that landed them a deal with Metal Blade who has released this debut. This mini LP was filled with a traditional heavy metal attack that landed them a deal with Metal Blade who has released this debut. First off the production is big and bold, chugging guitars, double bass drums all underpinned by the rumble of the bass. The leather lungs of Jake Rogers has depth and range and he uses the high histrionics when needed and does not sit in the high registers like many of the new traditional metal bands. The vocals are melodic and perfectly in tune which is not as common as you may think within this genre. The backing vocals are a bit over the top and may be a challenge in the live arena. Opener and title track “The Revenant King” is a fist banger from the very start with a memorable chorus and a relentless twin guitar attack.
