This now annual event is organised by David Tonge (AKA Big D) and his family and friends with a lot of time and hard work going into the organising. Last year was my first time, and having enjoyed it tremendously, I immediately booked time off work and a hotel for this year’s event. It wasn’t all a smooth ride with bands breaking up along the way giving Big D the headache of finding replacements but on the weekend everything went smoothly. The Maze is a small venue about twenty minutes walk from the centre of Nottingham. There’s a pub at the front with a great range of ales, pictures on the wall of stars like Elvis Presley, Adam Ant and Debby Harry and beer barrels as tables. Then behind the pub is the venue and at the very rear a Beer Garden where you can go for a smoke or just to cool down after dancing to one of the many bands. Fundraising events like a tombola and cake sale were held in the pub for the […]

HRH AOR – Pwllheli, Hafan-Y-Mor 13/03/2015

Having unfortunately missed Psycho Kiss – who, by all accounts got the afternoon off to a suitably rambunctious start – Tainted Nation hit us up hard and heavy, with big riffs and even bigger melodies, coupled with great vocal harmonies, the latter led by frontman Pete Newdeck (pictured right), who exudes an easy confidence throughout their set. The rhythm section of bassist Pontus Egberg and drummer Mark Cross are provide the sort of concrete solid foundation you would expect from musicians of this calibre, underpinning an energetic, passionate and powerful performance. Greeks Kingdragon are the first band of the day to possess what we shall describe as “invisible keyboards syndrome”; but, this does not prevent them delivering […]

Tigertailz replace CrashDiet at HRH AOR

Welsh glam legends Tigertailz have replaced CrashDiet on the bill at next month’s HRH AOR, after the Swedish sleaze rockers were forced to pull out. PlanetMosh’s favourite new kids on the block, StOp sToP have also been added to the event’s Sleaze stage.

PlanetMosh’s favourite new kids on the block, StOp sToP have also been added to the event’s Sleaze stage. While it had been widely reported for several weeks that CrashDiet were not appearing, an official statement posted on the HRH Facebook page earlier today said: “Just to put some clarity to the recent rumours, CrashDiet will not be performing at HRH United or in the near future due to one of its band members being considerably ill. It’s a shame, as we were all up for it, but we are only human and sometimes these things happen, however once they are fit and back up and running, well get them back in.” A statement from the band added: “Its with a lot of regret that CrashDiet have had to cancel Hard Rock Hell United due to health issues with one of the band members. We apologise to anyone that has bought a ticket to see the band and hope that the band will be able to grace a future edition of the event so as to […]

Keep Rollin’ a groovy number say Deep Purple meets Lynyrd Skynyrd and lastly In the Gutter which reminded me of Green Day’s Hichin a Ride. A catchy four track EP to give you a taster of this charismatic band who have recently toured with The Last Vegas and had/have appearances at several festivals including Maryport Festival tomorrow. The Last Vegas Chicago Rock Band The Last Vegas have just completed an eight date tour of the UK starting in Southampton taking in various places from Workington to Edinburgh and finishing off at The Asylum in Chelmsford. I managed to catch their show at The Snooty Fox in Wakefield on the sixth night of their tour and the gig was streamed live for those who weren’t able to attend in person. The tour continues on to mainland Europe to promote their new album ‘Sweet Salvation’ released on 20th May 2014, the day I saw them. Support on the UK leg of the Sweet Salvation tour came from Cumbrian Rockers Heartbre ak Remedy. Formed in Feb 2013, although vocalist Matty and drummer Stephen have played together for over 13 years. I saw Matty many times when he was bass player in Falling Red, and I’ve always found him to be a good showman, so I was looking forward to seeing him as a front man. The first song Cocked and Loaded had a Deep Purple Highway Star vibe with a good bass line and screaming riffs getting the show off to a good start. […]

Unfortunately I awoke feeling sick and with a killer headache thus I ended up missing the first four bands and no, it wasn’t a hangover because I’m not a big drinker. I reckon that milkshake must have been a bit off! Obviously I’m not able to review those bands but by the interval I was in need of sustenance and at a round table discussion over beans on toast and a latte (for me) here ’s what my friends had to say about the bands I missed.
